On April 9, 2026, Marriott International, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, UEH College of Business, organized the Marriott Career Day 2026 at UEH. The event not only introduced career opportunities but also provided students with valuable guidance to help them shape their journey toward becoming senior managers in the hospitality industry.
Attending the event on behalf of UEH were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hai Ly – Vice Rector of UEH College of Business; Dr. Nguyen Duc Tri – Dean, School of Tourism; M.A. Duong Ngoc Thang – Program Director of Hospitality Management, School of Tourism, UEH College of Business; M.A. Huynh Thuc Dinh – Director of the UEH Institute of Languages and International Studies (UEH-LI); and M.A. Bui My Ngoc – Acting Deputy Dean, School of Foreign Languages.

The event also welcomed more than 120 students from the Department of Tourism, along with students from other faculties of the UEH College of Business and the School of Foreign Languages.
In her opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hai Ly – Vice Rector of UEH College of Business, shared, "The partnership between UEH and Marriott International in training activities represents a key pillar in strengthening university–industry collaboration. As a global leader in hotel management, Marriott consistently provides students with practice-oriented learning environments while contributing to the development of high-quality human resources for Vietnam’s tourism and hospitality sector in the context of global integration. Furthermore, opportunities to engage directly with general managers of leading properties enable students to better shape their future career pathways.”

Following the opening, representatives from both sides exchanged commemorative gifts.
The Marriott Career Day commenced with an engaging quiz session about Marriott International and its global as well as Vietnam-based brands. The second and most significant part of the program featured sharing sessions from hotel General Managers, who discussed their career journeys, advancement pathways, challenges, and opportunities in the hospitality industry. Each speaker brought a unique perspective, illustrating diverse pathways to becoming a General Manager. Moderated by UEH alumni Ms. Xuân Mai and Mr. Thanh Đức, the panel discussion was both dynamic and relatable.

The discussion was followed by an interactive Q&A session, where students raised questions about career advancement and essential preparations for entering the hospitality industry. Concluding this segment, Mr. Mark Van Der Wielen, representing the general managers, delivered an inspiring message: “Dream big today, don’t be afraid to pursue your ambitions, and विश्वास that you can achieve them.”

The final segment of the program featured mock interviews conducted by HR representatives from hotels across Ho Chi Minh City for pre-registered students. Fifty students had the opportunity to receive CV evaluations and participate in direct interviews with recruiters. This activity allowed students to explore potential employers while gaining valuable interview experience, particularly beneficial for third-year students preparing for their upcoming internships in August.

The Marriott Career Day 2026 at UEH officially concluded following the interview session. The event provided students with meaningful experiences and valuable insights to help them shape their future career paths. It also stands as a testament to the quality of UEH’s Hospitality Management program, which emphasizes a strong integration of theory and practice. Through strategic partnerships with multinational hospitality groups such as Marriott International, UEH not only equips students with solid academic foundations but also enables early exposure to international working environments. This close collaboration between academia and industry continues to expand internship and employment opportunities, empowering students to confidently integrate into the global labor market.
