About us

The Institute of Applied Mathematics (IAM in short) was established by University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in 2020 to conduct fundamental research in the areas of Mathematics and Economics. The Institute wants to embrace power and diversity by combining mathematicians and economists, ensuring collaborations both within and beyond the University in order to build an advanced academic program, and construct the tools to improve our lives.

Our Team

The IAM currently has five members:

Assoc. Prof. Le Xuan Truong
Research interests: The Qualitative Properties of Solutions to Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) and Harmonic;
PhD Ho Ngoc Ky
Research interests: The Qualitative Properties of Solutions to PDEs of Elliptic Type.
PhD Dao Nguyen Anh
Research interests: Functional Analysis (functional spaces and functional inequalities), PDEs (parabolic type) and Harmonic Analysis (the boundedness of operators of Calderon-Zygmund type in Functional Spaces, and The Weak Hardy factorization).
PhD Nguyen Dinh Tuan
Research interests: Optimal and Optimal Control.
PhD Tran Thi Tuan Anh
Research interests: Quantitative Methods in Economics and Finance.

Research

The research topics include:

Harmonic: the boundedness of operators on the functional spaces.
PDEs: the qualitative properties of solutions to equations of elliptic and parabolic types (the existence, uniqueness and multiplicity of solutions, decay estimates, blow-up, and long time behaviours of solutions, regularity, bifurcation, problems involving critical growth, eigenvalue problems).
Optimal: the necessary and sufficient conditions for optimal control problems.
Applications of statistical and econometric methods in economics and finance.
