The main topic of the course is the knowledge and policies applied in the field of agriculture and rural areas over the past 5 decades, with the successes, failures and challenges in the field of rural development. experienced by the country, and how to formulate policies and strategies for agricultural and rural development in transition economies. The course is designed by topic. These topics are relatively independent, but when linked together, they provide an overview of important issues of the Agricultural and Rural Development Policy system. There are 9 topics presented in the following order: Topics include: 1) The role of agriculture in the economy; 2) The role of the State in rural development; 3) Globalization, agricultural trade and rural development; 4) Land policy; 5) Rural credit; 6) Diversification of livelihoods and non-agricultural economy in rural areas; 7) Value Chains and Links; 8) Economic restructuring and agricultural and rural development; 9) Rural development and new rural construction policy in Vietnam. Formal lectures, individual exercises, open discussions, and case studies are combined used in this course. Policy issues and institutions for rural development will be presented in both theoretical and practical aspects.
