5. Course Objectives:

This course aims to equip students with a solid foundation in sustainable and green finance in the context of global climate change. Students will develop the ability to understand and critically evaluate how climate risks and regulatory frameworks affect the activities of corporations and financial institutions. The course further seeks to build students' capacity to analyse the roles of key stakeholders — including corporations, investors, financial institutions, and regulators — in driving the transition to a net-zero economy. Students will also strengthen their analytical skills in assessing how equity and debt markets evaluate the financial and non-financial dimensions of green initiatives and projects, while developing critical thinking through engagement with current debates, policies, and regulatory frameworks in green finance. Finally, the course aims to cultivate a sense of autonomy and responsibility, empowering students to formulate actionable recommendations for firms, investors, and regulators with a clear awareness of the societal impacts and ethical considerations involved.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course will introduce students to the principles and practices of sustainable finance, with a particular focus on green finance and climate-related risks. It examines how climate change and regulatory frameworks shape the behaviour of corporations, investors, and financial institutions, and explores the role of finance in supporting the transition to a net-zero economy. Students will analyse how equity and debt markets evaluate green initiatives, assess the responsibilities of key stakeholders in managing climate risks, and engage critically with current debates and policy developments in sustainable finance.
