5. Course Objectives:

This course aims to equip students with the foundational knowledge of research methodologies and essential skills for conducting research and solving a problem in Finance. After completing the course, students are expected to: - Understand and distinguish between quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methodologies. - Master the concepts of research design and methodology. - Conduct a literature review and identify research problems, objectives, questions, and methods in Finance. - Demonstrate the ability to write a research proposal in the standard format. - Understand and be aware of the ethical issues related to research.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course introduces and discusses philosophies, paradigms, research methodologies, research design, and research methods, particularly in the field of Finance. Students will learn to choose an appropriate paradigm and methodology to solve their research problems. The course will detail how to perform qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methodologies to answer research questions. In addition, the course helps students understand research terms, build research frameworks, review and evaluate previous studies, write a research proposal in an appropriate format, and consider relevant research ethics issues. The course also highlights methodological differences between research in the finance area and those in other fields.
