The course Optimal Control in Economics aims to provide students with solid and systematic knowledge of methods for solving optimal control problems in situations with continuous time, mixed inequality constraints, and general inequality constraints. The course helps students understand the fundamental theories and applications of optimal control in the context of economics and finance, equipping them with the ability to solve complex practical problems.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of optimal control as they apply to the economics and finance. Topics will include an introduction to Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations and maximum principles, and their applications in optimal control problems such as: an optimal financing model, a simple cash balance problem, models of optimal economic growth, a model of optimal epidemic control, and a pollution control model.
