5. Course Objectives:

This course aims to provide students with a clear understanding of the legal rules governing international shipping and logistics. After completing the course, students will be able to: Explain the key legal principles governing international carriage of goods and logistics operations. Interpret major international conventions (Hague-Visby, Hamburg, Rotterdam, CMR, Montreal, etc.) and understand their impact on carrier and shipper obligations. Analyse liability regimes in sea, air, road, and multimodal transport, including exceptions and limitation of liability. Understand and use core transport documents, especially bills of lading and logistics contracts. Identify and manage legal risks in shipping and supply chain transactions. Recognise the role of insurance and dispute resolution in handling risks in international logistics.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

International Shipping and Logistics Law is a specialized course that provides students with a solid legal foundation governing private-law relationships in international logistics and the carriage of goods. The course focuses on the legal frameworks applicable to major modes of transport (road, sea, and air), the various types of carriage contracts, transport documents, the liability regimes of carriers, and the mechanisms for exemption and limitation of liability. In addition, the course examines the rights and obligations of parties within the supply chain, helping learners develop a systematic understanding of private law in the field of international transport and logistics.
