This course covers rigorous theories and practices in financial investment management. Students will be equipped with in-depth knowledge and and critical thinking as the sound foundation for financial portfolio management strategies. The course’s major themes include financial theories (portfolio theory, the capital asset pricing model, the arbitrage pricing theory and multifactor models, and the efficient market hypothesis, term structure theories) and analytical and managerial framework for the decision-making in investments (fundamentals of capital markets and financial instruments, arguments on the risk-return relation, macro- and industry-level environmental analyses as well as micro-valuation approaches for equity and bond markets). Furthermore, students are provided with the udpated literature on investments through research topics and quantitative demonstration of constructing investment portfolios.
