5. Course Objectives:

This course on Valuation, IPOs and Mergers and Acquisitions is designed for graduate students of the Master of Finance (Applied program), School of Finance, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City. This course aims to provide students with specialized knowledge related to business acquisition, business valuation and IPO. Students will be provided with both theoretical and practical knowledge related to M&A activities of enterprises, methods and ways to determine business value, as well as the process and methods of issuing equity capital to the public. The course also prepares students with necessary professional skills such as synthesis and problem solving skills; teamwork skills. Therefore, after completing this course, students can apply their knowledge and skills to their future work, especially in today's changing economic context.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course provides students with knowledge and skills in a particular area of ​Finance from an investment and financial advisory perspective. The course covers the contents related to business valuation activities; IPOs; Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) of a business. In this module, learners are provided with a background in valuation methods currently used in financial markets, such as the comparable method; discounted cash flow methods… These methods are being used to value both public and private companies, especially in the context of M&A and IPOs, etc. This course also provides the foundation of M&A, from both buy side and sell side, including process, strategy, transaction structure and analysis. In addition, the course also discusses about initial public offerings (IPOs), providing students with basic IPO knowledge such as an overview of the decision to issue shares to the public, especially strong IPO candidates, key participants of IPOs, the IPO process etc.
