5. Course Objectives:

The course Quantitative Research Methods in Economics is designed to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills to conduct a complete quantitative research project in economics. Specifically, students will: 1. Understand and apply the full process of scientific research in economics — from formulating research ideas, questions, and hypotheses to designing models and analyzing data. 2. Master core quantitative methods used in economic research, including linear regression, instrumental variables, quasi-experimental designs, and advanced estimation techniques. 3. Develop the ability to write coherent and evidence-based research proposals and academic reports. 4. Acquire proficiency in data analysis software, teamwork, academic discussion, and critical evaluation of empirical findings. 5. Foster independent research thinking, critical reasoning, and research ethics in quantitative economic inquiry.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course introduces the process of conducting a research in economics. Particularly the course introduce the methods of identifying a resarch problem, review the literature, selecting appropriate analytical methods, and data collection methods. The course also introduces novel quantitative methods that are not introduced in conventional courses of quantitative methods. In addition, the course also introduces feasible research ideas and available databases to help learners choosing an appropriate thesis topic.

Participants after completing the course gain the knowledge and skills to be able to develop a full research proposal, conduct a research project, and write their thesis as a study at state-of-the-art level.
