5. Course Objectives:

The Health Information Technology Management course aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to manage, implement, and operate information technology systems in the healthcare sector. Specifically, the course targets the following objectives:- Master the basic concepts of information technology in healthcare, and understand the role and importance of IT in improving the quality of healthcare services.- Clearly understand what a Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) is, its components, basic functions, HMIS culture, and senior management personnel in healthcare service units.- Clearly understand some systems related to HMIS, such as SCM, CRM, ERP, with a patient-centered approach.- Be aware of certain issues related to standards, policies, governance, and the future of HMIS.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

The 21st century recognizes a positive combination of ideas and knowledge invited from many fields - including advances in information science and technology, management theory and practice of information systems, the combination of health sciences with computer technology, along with the proliferation of informatics and healthcare publications - is beginning to influence the growth and knowledge explosion of the information systems field hospital management (HMIS).

This course provides learners with four areas of knowledge including: (1) general background in concept formation (2) HMIS, HMIS technology and applications, (3) project planning and management HMIS development project and finally (4) HMIS standards, regulatory issues, policy, globalization and the future of HMIS.
