6. Brief Description of Course Content:
The StudioLab is a practical course to explore the concepts that were introduced in the previous theoretical course “Eco Smart City and Eco-Friendly Architecture”. The studio will start with the exercise of reading and understanding cities and architecture (which includes doing fieldwork, data collecting and analysis) in order to define critical social and ecological problems in relation to spatial elements. The students will explore and analyze international and national case studies to draw lessons to apply to their own projects. Students are expected to propose vision and design strategies that can integrate smart and eco characteristics as a base for development of a livable city. Design strategies will aim to balance economic development with the preservation of cultural and ecological values. Simultaneously, the application of technologically advanced models to manage, design and operate the city is an essential requirement of this studio.
