5. Course Objectives:

Identify and distinguish between the different types of fixed income securities, as well as the structure, purpose and operation of fixed income markets and the nature of instruments traded in these markets. Demonstrate systematic understanding of the operations in money and bond markets and appraise the more recent developments in these markets. Applying the basic course knowledge to theoretical issues and concrete market situations. Demonstrate conceptual and critical understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of financial approaches in bond valuation and structuring and managing a diversified fixed-income portfolio. Understand and critically evaluate logical arguments, identifying the assumptions made and the conclusions drawn.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course focuses on fixed-income markets, fixed-income securities, and tools employed by market participants to the analysis of fixed-income investments. It is intended to provide learners with a sound understanding of the types of fixed-income securities in the marketplace and their unique features, as well as how to price these securities and how to measure their risk.
