5. Course Objectives:
● To provide basic understanding of advanced econometric techniques in quantitative research.
● To apprehend these econometric techniques for substantive research topics.
● To develop statistical programming skills in different software, including graphical display of data.
● To present quantitative findings to varied types of audiences.
●To define a research question clearly, choose appropriate econometric technique, specify independent and dependent indicators, and draft a preliminary research proposal.
6. Brief Description of Course Content:
The module provides foundations in advanced quantitative research methods in economics, focusing on applied econometrics. Students will learn to define research questions, explore strengths and limitations of various econometric methods, and gain skills in data analysis and research writing. Topics include single equation regression, univariate and multivariate time series, production analysis, household budget analysis, pooled and panel data estimation, and simultaneous equations. Students will use software for real data analysis and write quantitative research reports.
