6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course covers a number of topics on economic growth theory, business cycles, and macroeconomic policy. Upon completion of this module, students will understand fundamental economic arguments and theory with an emphasis on tools of economic analysis to support economic research related to macroeconomics.

The course is organized into 3 main parts:

Part 1: Business cycle theory includes Keynesian business cycle models, neoclassical business cycle models (Milton Friedman model, Lucas model, real business cycle model) and New Keynesian business cycle model.

Part 2: Growth theory includes content such as Solow's growth model and new growth models such as R&D model, human capital model, learning by doing model.)

Part 3: Economic policy focuses on discussing the tools and objectives of macroeconomic policy through the Tinbergen model and the problem of stabilization policy.
