6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course helps students learn advanced topics with many practical applications in Econometrics. As a result, students can flexibly apply various Econometrics techniques in many situations of real-life data analysis and then make policy recommendations.

The main content of the course includes two parts: Time Series Econometrics and Spatial Econometrics. Time Series Econometrics uses statistical methods to analyze trends, cycles, fluctuations, and correlations in time-series data. Prominent applications of Time Series Econometrics include forecasting and analyzing dynamic models. Spatial Econometrics focuses on the geographical distribution of observations to incorporate spatial correlation factors into the model to provide more profound and more reasonable conclusions about socioeconomic relationships. These two branches of Econometrics are highly valued, widely applied in experimental research, and internationally published today. In each model introduced in the course, students will be guided on how to apply, perform analysis on software (R), and interpret results.

The lectures are arranged by topic. Each lecture will introduce the theory of Econometrics and model structure, basic operations on R and RStudio for estimation. Students will be provided with real-life data for practice in each topic.
