This course introduces students to a toolkit that highlights emerging innovative processes, methods and mechanisms that foster the engagement of civil society, the private sector and stakeholders. It aims to assist governments, civil society and other relevant stakeholders in having a common and shared understanding of civic engagement and the necessary knowledge and capacity to establish, design, formulate, implement, evaluate and monitor public and socio-economic policies and programs with greater engagement of all stakeholders. Participatory community design (PCD) will also be briefly introduced. The course also guides and lets students choose their case studies to practice some of the methods and mechanisms taught in the theory part, foster critical thinking, debate, teamwork, and multi-party collaboration.
