This course equip students with reading skills for academic texts. Students are able to practice comprehension strategies and analyze textual features of academic texts as well as develop their critical thinking in academic reading activities. Specific strategies include identifying genre, audience, purpose and perspective in texts, identifying arguments, and supporting evidence, understanding reading lists and references, and understanding an argument and recognizing a writer's stance. Besides, the vocabulary parts focus on improving students' ability to use vocabulary flexibly and accurately.
