5. Course Objectives:

This module provides students with a foundational understanding of British and American literature across different periods, enabling them to comprehend the intricate relationship between culture, society, and literature. Students will cultivate their reading comprehension, analytical, critical thinking, presentation, and teamwork skills through engaging with, dissecting, and evaluating representative literary works, while simultaneously uncovering the beauty of language and cultural values embedded within literature.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course consists of 2 parts: British Literature and American Literature. The two parts contain all the basic information students need about British and American institutions and everyday life. In particular, students are equipped with the knowledge of different types of literature such as stories and poems. In addition, students also learn about the values, customs, as well as history of Britain and the United States of America. This course provides a solid foundation for helping students learn and acquire the English language and cross-cultural communication.
