5. Course Objectives:
This course aims to provide students with a theoretical and practical framework for expanding financial investments from traditional instruments to alternative instruments. The course will first introduce alternative asset classes and tools and techniques for assessing the risk and return characteristics of each of these asset classes. Next, the course will provide the foundations of portfolio risk management and allocation through specific strategies for each alternative investment group (real estate, hedge funds, private equity funds and structured products).
6. Brief Description of Course Content:
This course is expected to provide a general knowledge of alternative investments. Specifically, this course helps students to understand hedge funds and private equity funds/venture capital funds, real estate investment, and structured products. The main content of the course includes deep understanding and analyzing how alternative investment strategies (especially hedge funds) are implemented, how to evaluate these strategies, and how to manage risk, how to appraise companies that are using alternative investment strategies.
