5. Course Objectives:

This course "ICAEW_Financial Accounting and Reporting 3 (ICAEW ACA - FAR)" aims to enhance learners' ability to comprehend and apply international financial reporting standards related to business combinations and the preparation of complex financial statements in a group context. Upon completion, learners will be able to prepare consolidated financial statements, including addressing issues related to business combinations, separate financial statements, investments in associates and joint ventures, disposal of subsidiaries, and disclosures of interests in other entities. Additionally, the course equips learners with the skills to analyze practical accounting scenarios and compare the key differences between international standards (IAS, IFRS) and UK accounting standards (FRS 102). By the end of the course, learners will be able to effectively handle complex financial reporting requirements and meet the professional demands of the international finance and accounting field.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course is designed based on the foundational knowledge provided in previous courses on preparing financial statements, aiming to develop learners' ability to read and understand international standards related to business consolidation and preparing complex financial statements within a group. The topics covered in this course include: business consolidation, separate financial statements, consolidated financial statements, other accounting issues related to investments in associates, joint ventures, subsidiary liquidations, and disclosures about interests in other entities. Additionally, the course also provides learners with basic knowledge of the key differences between international IAS/IFRS standards and the UK accounting standards through FRS 102.
