5. Course Objectives:

This course provides students with a solid foundation of knowledge, practical skills, and a strong sense of autonomy and responsibility in their work. Students will learn to apply economic and financial principles to assess the effectiveness of investment projects in the agricultural sector from multiple perspectives, ensuring accurate and comprehensive information for decision-making. The course also equips students with systematic risk analysis methods, enabling them to propose effective solutions to mitigate risks, protect investors' interests, and contribute to sustainable societal development. Students will be trained in scientifically collecting and processing project data, mastering spreadsheet tools like Excel to construct and analyze cash flow reports with precision. Additionally, essential soft skills such as effective teamwork, professional investment appraisal report writing, and critical thinking will be strongly developed through case studies and hands-on practical exercises. Throughout the course, students will cultivate the ability to work independently when evaluating investment projects while demonstrating responsibility toward the community and the environment. They will also gain a deep awareness of their role in creating new value for the agricultural sector through innovative entrepreneurial ideas. 6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course provides the essential knowledge and skills for evaluating investment projects in the agricultural sector. The first lecture offers an overview of project appraisal, helping students understand key concepts, perspectives, processes, and implementation steps. Next, students will learn how to develop a financial cash flow report for a project, a crucial tool for analyzing and assessing financial performance from both the total investment and investor perspectives.

Subsequent lectures focus on investment efficiency evaluation criteria, equipping students with Excel-based calculation methods to assess a project's financial success. Lecture 4 introduces the concept of the financial discount rate, a critical factor in present value calculations and ensuring consistency in financial appraisal processes. Students will also learn how to evaluate projects from an economic perspective, including shadow pricing of project benefits and costs, as well as assessing the economic viability of agricultural projects.

Lecture 6 explores how to analyze the distribution of a project's net benefits across different target groups, ensuring fairness and rational allocation of scarce resources. Finally, Lecture 7 guides students in risk analysis for project appraisal, helping them develop risk mitigation strategies and optimize project effectiveness. Throughout the course, students will engage in practical exercises using real-world project scenarios in Excel, enhancing their analytical and decision-making skills in a professional setting.
