The course "Agricultural and Food Policy" provides fundamental knowledge on the role of the government in regulating agricultural markets, the policy-making and implementation process, as well as methods for analyzing and evaluating policy effectiveness in the agricultural and food sectors. Students will explore the principles of government intervention, general agricultural policy instruments, and their impact on the economy. The course content includes key concepts of public policy, policy formulation and implementation processes, and policy analysis frameworks. Notably, the course delves into the study and application of policy analysis in Vietnam’s agricultural sector through Resolutions, Rural Agricultural Development Strategies, and legal documents such as decrees and circulars.
Beyond theory, the course equips students with policy analysis models based on welfare economics, enabling them to assess the impact of policies on economic growth, social equity, and environmental sustainability. Students will be guided on how to apply analytical frameworks in practice and will engage in group projects to write essays on specific policy issues. By the end of the course, students will take an assessment to evaluate their ability to analyze and apply policy approaches to real-world scenarios. Through this process, they will develop critical thinking skills, policy analysis capabilities, and the ability to propose appropriate solutions tailored to Vietnam’s agricultural context.
