5. Course Objectives:
This course aims to train students on how to start a design project through a good analysis of urban and landscape structures. Students will all begin with the fundamentals of mapping topography and hydrological systems as land forms. Then each group of students will be assigned one mapping theme to really learn how to extract the essential elements of the given site to create interpretive maps as a base for the future design assignment.
6. Brief Description of Course Content:
In this course, students will learn to understand city through making maps. By the end of this course, students will gain a solid knowledge of the ArcGIS mapping software and know how to visualize urban data. They'll also gain a better understanding of how to collect, process and present urban data in order to effectively communicate with different stakeholders.
