5. Course Objectives:

The course helps students gain knowledge about concepts, indicators, theories, and models related to the economic growth and development of the country as well as localities. In addition, it helps students analyze resources to promote economic growth and development; analyze development policies in each economic sector (or group of sectors) such as industry, agriculture, services; Analyze topics in the field of development such as poverty, inequality, urbanization, environmental pollution, climate change, migration, sustainable development, economic restructuring, social progress, globalization, knowledge and development, gender and development, managing an open economy and some others.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course addresses development issues for poor countries, and explains the causes and effects of poverty and deriving policy implications. The course is based on theoretical economics, adapted to reflect the special institutional structures that characterize most developing countries.
