5. Course Objectives:
The course equips students with skills in collecting and analyzing big data, machine learning using Python and tools such as Spark. The content is mainly related to economics, public policy, finance, investment and business. Students also learn how to exploit data from media and social networks to understand the needs of customers, organizations and the public, thereby making strategies and recommendations.
6. Brief Description of Course Content:
The course provides students with knowledge and skills in big data collection and analysis, machine learning with the Python programming language, and some other tools (e.g. Spark). The case studies applied in learning process relate much to the economic and public policy, finance and investment and business. In addition, in this three-credit course, students will learn how to mine data from the media, social networks to draw insight into the needs of their customers, about an organization and its public; thereby making recommendations for action and strategy
