5. Course Objectives:

This course is designed to provide systematic knowledge in behavioral finance. It concentrates on the irrational aspects of human behavior and their effects on investment and financing decisions.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

Key topics include the expected utility theory, the prospect theory, challenges to market efficiency, framing and mental accounting, heuristics and biases, overconfidence, rational managers, and irrational investors. After completing this course, students are expected to understand the limits of the arbitrage, challenges of the market efficiency, main assumptions and ideas of the expected utility theory and the prospect theory, and puzzling phenomena the classical financial theories have not been able to explain fully. In addition, students will be able to identify human behavioral biases and their impacts on the financial decisions of both investors and managers.
