5. Course Objectives:
-This course provides an overview of the health care delivery system in Vietnam and some countries in the world and explores the changing dynamics over time that shape the organization and delivery of health care services as well as the opportunities for innovation and improvement in the aspects of cost, quality and access to health care services. The course examines the paradox of the health care delivery system and how large expenditures on health care do not bring the best results partly due to issues of cost, access and quality.
-Learners will consider the impact of social, economic and political history on current health care systems. Learners will analyze the principles of priority setting in health care, discuss and evaluate possible solutions to challenges such as aging populations, health inequalities, etc. to ensure cost and effectiveness. In addition, learners will also know how to use and select appropriate techniques in analyzing health problems to find the causes of specific health problems.
- The course also helps students to observe real-life problems occurring in health facilities, playing the role of supervisors and supervised people to see the problem from different perspectives and find better future directions of operation. The course helps students understand and grasp the organizational structure, recruitment, treatment, and communication information in managing the workforce of the health care system.
6. Brief Description of Course Content:
Health system organization and management is the study of health system theories, management of health resources and activities, and health policy from which the theory is applied in practice. Vietnam health system, and manage health resources and activities at all levels, develop and implement effective health policies. The module includes the following contents: Overview of medical organization and management; Organize and manage the Vietnamese health system; Management of health resources; Organize and manage the medical examination and treatment system; Outline of health policy; Health policy development process; Some major health policies in Vietnam today.
