5. Course Objectives:

The minimum 8 week "Apprenticeship" period provides students with valuable hands-on experience in the hospitality, events, or leisure services industry. Through a structured placement within a relevant workplace, students will gain practical insights into real-world operations. Weekly reports will document observations, challenges, and learning experiences. Culminating in a comprehensive final report, students will select three mandatory and three elective topics from a provided list for in-depth analysis. These topics will include observations of workplace, industry problems, reflections on how the company addresses or fails to address these issues, and the development of student-proposed solutions informed by their first five semesters of university coursework. The final report will also include recommendations for improvement to the host company and the industry as a whole.
