5. Course Objectives:

The objectives of the Tourism Management course are to focus on the following main points: a. Master the general concepts, characteristics, and theories related to tourism activities and tourism business such as: tourism, tourists, tourism products and services, tourism demand, and types of tourism. b. Understand the different components in the tourism supply chain system, including: transportation companies, travel agencies, accommodation facilities, and entertainment venues. c. Recognize the key concerns in tourism business management, specifically: tourism human resources, tourism marketing, tourism business strategies, and financial issues in tourism business d. Analyze management strategies towards the goal of optimal tourism development e. Identify the role of the government in tourism management f. Evaluate the increasingly important role of information technology in tourism business and some effective methods of applying information technology today.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This module which looks at what the tourism industry is and does, and why it is such an important global business. In simple terms it shows how tourism is organized, run and managed by tourism players - and how our desire to take holidays and use our leisure time creates an industry which is expanding and is sometimes seen as out of control.
