According to reports by the World Economic Forum in 2020 and 2023, the roles of researchers, data scientists, and big data analysts rank among the top 10 fastest-growing jobs from 2020 to 2027—and this trend is expected to continue in the years ahead. These roles are also among the many positions where graduates of Investment Economics have a strong advantage in both domestic and international job markets.
This course introduces students to the fundamental principles of conducting scientific research in economics, business, and management. It prepares students to engage with academic and applied research throughout their undergraduate studies. Developing research skills equips students with a scientific mindset to expand knowledge, drive innovation, improve processes, and support evidence-based decision-making in governance and investment.
The course covers essential steps in the research process, including identifying research problems, searching for and reviewing academic literature, defining research objectives and questions, developing theoretical frameworks or models, collecting and analyzing data, and drafting research reports. By mastering these skills, students will be well-prepared to contribute to innovative solutions and thrive in a data-driven world.

It will take you through stages of developing a good research proposal - from research question to research methods to developing and testing hypothesis.
