5. Course Objectives:

The course "Population and Development" plays an important role in equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills to understand population issues and the relationship between population and the socio-economic development process. It involves analyzing actual population issues, assessing the impact of population policies, and developing skills in logical thinking, analysis, information synthesis, teamwork, and presentation.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

Demographics is always a problem that not only scientists and experts but also governments and social organizations are very concerned about. Demographics and economic development have a very close interplay. Population size, structure, quality and growth rate have a great influence on socio-economic development. In contrast, socio-economic development has a direct impact on fertility, mortality, population distribution and population quality of a particular region or country.
First, learners will acquire basic knowledge and methodology to analyze, evaluate and propose measures to regulate socio-economic development processes.
Second, learners also analyze in depth the basics of population as well as the interactions between the population and issues in the labor field. From there, learners can detect, perform, analyze, predict the relationships between population and development, find out the law or the regularity of these relationships.
