The objective of this subject is to provide students with a basic understanding of data communication in an industrial context, focusing on the exchange of information between entities such as computers or PLCs in an industrial communication network. During the course, students will learn about connection devices and communication protocols used in some typical industrial communication networks, including but not limited to Profibus, Can, DeviceNet, Modbus, Ethernet, AS-i.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to design a communications network system to support the efficient automation of industrial production systems.
