5. Course Objectives:

The objective of this course is to provide students with a basic understanding of data communication in an industrial context, focusing on the exchange of information between entities such as computers or PLCs in an industrial communication network. During the course, students will learn about the connection devices and communication protocols used in some typical industrial communication networks, including but not limited to Profibus, Can, DeviceNet, Modbus, Ethernet, AS-i. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to design a communication network system to support the efficient automation of industrial production systems.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

The Industrial Communication Networks course provides knowledge about communication systems used in industrial environments. The content includes:

Overview of industrial communication networks and communication standards.

Common protocols such as Modbus, PROFIBUS, CAN, EtherCAT, and Industrial Ethernet.

Structure, principles, and applications of network systems in automation control.

Performance evaluation, security, and optimization of industrial network systems.

Practical experience in configuring and programming communication networks on industrial devices.

This course enables students to understand and apply modern communication technologies in industrial automation and control systems.
