5. Course Objectives:

The Modeling and Simulation course provides students with foundational knowledge and practical skills to build, analyze, and validate computational models and simulations of engineering systems. Students will gain a solid understanding of key concepts such as parametric and non-parametric modeling, system simulation, parameter estimation, linear regression, and the least squares method. Additionally, the course introduces advanced techniques like numerical linear algebra, nonlinear programming, and optimization, alongside the application of specialized software tools to solve real-world problems. Through exercises and projects, students will develop analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to verify and validate models using experimental data. The ultimate goal is to ensure students not only master theoretical concepts but also apply modern simulation tools effectively in technical and industrial domains.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course present the principles of computational modeling and system simulation. General topics include: parametric and non-parametric models; system simulation; parameter estimation, linear regression and least squares; model architecture and model validation through simulation; and numerical problems in systems theory. The techniques covered include methods from numerical linear algebra, nonlinear programming, along with applications to general engineering systems. Modeling and simulation software is used
