Brief Course Description

1. Course Title:

Engineering Mechanics 1

2. Language of Instruction:

Tiếng Anh

3. Course Code:

INT547077

4. Credits:

5. Course Objectives:

The Engineering Mechanics 1 course provides students with foundational knowledge of statics, kinematics, and dynamics of rigid bodies. In the statics section, students will learn to analyze the conditions of static equilibrium for particles and rigid bodies under the influence of forces. The kinematics section introduces the geometric parameters of planar motion of rigid bodies and points on rigid bodies. The dynamics section focuses on analyzing the motion of rigid bodies under the influence of forces. Through this course, students will develop the ability to determine the reaction forces in mechanical systems, calculate and design mechanisms that satisfy given geometric motion requirements. Furthermore, dynamics knowledge will enable students to analyze and determine the motion characteristics of rigid bodies under force, preparing them to solve practical mechanical engineering problems effectively.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course provides students with basic knowledge of statics, kinematics, and dynamics of absolute solids. Which: statics provides knowledge related to the static equilibrium conditions of the point, of the solid under the action of force; kinematics is the study of geometrical parameters of the parallel plane motion of a solid, of a point belonging to a solid; Kinetics is the study of the motion of a rigid body under the action of a force.
On the basis of the knowledge learned above, students will determine the binding reactions in the mechanical system. From the kinematics knowledge, students can calculate the design of the structure satisfying the geometrical requirements of the given motion. Finally, knowledge of dynamics allows students to determine the properties of motion of a rigid body under the action of a force.
