5. Course Objectives:
Students will gain a clear understanding of the role and legal position of legal officers in enterprises. They will master the process of performing basic legal tasks, including creating internal regulations, overseeing their implementation, and providing legal advice to businesses, while being able to apply these skills to real-world situations.
Students will develop effective communication skills with internal stakeholders and external lawyers. They will be able to identify legal issues, search for relevant legal documents, and solve legal problems, as well as draft regulations, make presentations, and write internal legal advisory letters within the company.
Students will recognize the context and role of legal officers and understand their responsibility in proposing and implementing internal management policies. They will cultivate the habit of working carefully, objectively, impartially, and responsibly when addressing legal issues.
6. Brief Description of Course Content:
The course: (i) helps students to understand the position and role of corporate legislation; (ii) equips students with the basic skills of an in-house lawyer; and (iii) directly uses the knowledge that they have learnt to apply in practice. There are some activities that the in-house lawyers must perform, such as: building up regulations, supervising the implementation of regulations, consulting legal advice, and consulting the company to solve some specific legal issues that they may encounter.
