5. Course Objectives:

The International Migration: Law and Policy course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to assess the dual nature of migration issues from both a global and domestic perspective. Specifically, the course equips students with basic knowledge explaining migration dynamics and its relationship to economics, growth, and demographic policy. At the same time, the course also analyzes immigration and emigration control issues at hotspots in the global migration network such as Europe, North America, and Australia. In addition, the course also helps students clearly distinguish and use basic techniques to assess migration issues from both a policy and an economic perspective.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course aims to outfit students with foundation knowledge of the law, policy, and practical issues related to international migration and migration management. Migration policy is studied in the global as well as the Vietnam context. The discussion has also been extended to social-economic impacts, humanitarian and demographic policy, and cross-border control and enforcement regarding human movement between countries. Besides, students will acquire in-depth knowledge about long-stay and short-stay visas of some major developed countries
