The "Responsible Tourism" module offers a comprehensive exploration of sustainable and ethical tourism development. It provides students with an in-depth understanding of the fundamental principles of responsible tourism, development planning methodologies, and effective management practices across various destinations, with particular emphasis on balancing the interests of stakeholders. The module prioritizes the development of critical thinking and practical problem-solving skills through the analysis of case studies. Students will be trained to utilize digital technologies for research, the communication of innovative ideas, and the formulation of responsible tourism development strategies tailored to specific contexts. Furthermore, the module aims to cultivate flexible thinking and adaptability in addressing industry challenges, fostering students' self-learning abilities and a strong sense of responsibility towards contributing to the sustainable development of the tourism sector.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

The aim of this unit is to provide students with the knowledge and understanding of responsible tourism, and how this is managed and developed in different countries. Starting with understanding the concept and meaning of responsible tourism, students will then apply this to a ‘real-life’ situation through the creation of a local or national tourism development case study. This will involve planning, resolving conflicts of interest, balancing supply with demand, moral and ethical issues, and economic and social environmental issues.
