This course provides students with an understanding of how businesses operate and how financial functions help businesses achieve their goals. After completing this course, students will be able to:
• Identify the overall objectives of a business and the functions and tasks it performs to achieve its objectives;
• Clearly state the nature, characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of different business types and organizational structures;
• Determine the purpose of financial information provided by a business, explain how financial functions support business operations, and identify the resources and methods of financing for a business;
• Clearly state the role of the accounting profession and why this work is important; • Identify the role of management in running a business and explain how a business can promote corporate governance, sustainability, corporate responsibility, and ethical culture;
• Clearly state the impact of the external environment on a business;
• Identify the key features, benefits, and risks of various technologies.
