5. Course Objectives:

This course aims to provide students with the basic concepts of financial mathematics and how to apply those concepts in calculating the present and cumulative value of different types of cash flows to serve future usage needs, including reserves, valuation, asset, liability management, investment income, capital budgeting. The course is designed to closely align with the syllabus for the Financial Mathematics Exam (FM Exam)  of Society of Actuaries (SOA) to prepare students for the actuarial career.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

The course Financial Mathematics for Actuaries provides students with knowledge about interest rate theory, time value of money, annuities, and investment portfolios, as well as applications in analyzing assets and financial transactions. The module helps students calculate the present and cumulative values ​​for different cash flows as a basis for valuing financial assets, selecting investment projects, and capital budgeting.  The module also details the term structure of interest rates and asset/liability management in the cash flow balance of the enterprise.
