This module consists of nine sessions across six lessons designed to develop academic language skills in the context of economics. Each lesson focuses on vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading, writing skills, and applying knowledge to real-world scenarios: Unit 1: Saving, Spending... Borrowing and Lending! explores concepts of personal finance and borrowing, including financial management strategies and specialized communication; Unit 2: The Economics of Agriculture examines the role of agriculture in the economy, emphasizing vocabulary and analytical skills; Unit 3: The Economics of Health Care analyzes economic issues in healthcare, including costs, policies, and stakeholder roles; Unit 4: The Economics of Sport discusses the economic impact of sports, including business models and sponsorships; Unit 5: Labour Markets investigates labor market dynamics, from recruitment processes to factors affecting supply and demand; and Unit 6: Strategy, Policy, and Economic Change explores economic strategies, policies, and global economic shifts. Throughout the nine sessions, students will engage in group discussions, case analyses, role-playing, and presentations, complemented by self-study tasks and LMS-based learning. The module includes a Speaking assessment and a review session to consolidate acquired knowledge.
