Học phần này hướng đến mục tiêu chính là nâng cao nhận thức của sinh viên về mối quan hệ giữa ngôn ngữ học thuật và các quy ước diễn ngôn chuyên ngành trong lĩnh vực kinh tế học. Cấu trúc học phần được thiết kế một cách chiến lược, tích hợp việc tiếp thu ngôn ngữ với các nội dung nền tảng, giúp sinh viên phát triển hiểu biết về vai trò của ngôn ngữ trong việc truyền tải kiến thức chuyên ngành. Qua đó, sinh viên sẽ rèn luyện và phát triển các kỹ năng ngôn ngữ thiết yếu, phù hợp tự nhiên với lĩnh vực kinh tế học. Quá trình học tập trở nên hấp dẫn và ý nghĩa hơn thông qua các hoạt động đa dạng như nghiên cứu tình huống thực tế, nhập vai, thực hành mô phỏng, thuyết trình và thảo luận nhóm. The principal aim of this module is to enhance students' cognitive mastery of the intricate interplay between academic language and the specialized discourse conventions within the field of economics. The structural framework of the module strategically facilitates the integration of linguistic acquisition with the foundational subject matter, thereby endowing students with the capacity to cultivate a profound comprehension of the nuanced role of language in the dissemination of specialized knowledge. Consequently, students will acquire and develop essential language competencies that are intrinsically pertinent to the field of economics. Students will be involved in various interesting activities like studying real cases, acting out scenarios, doing simulations, giving presentations, and having group discussions to make their learning experience exciting and valuable.

This module consists of nine sessions across six lessons designed to develop academic language skills in the context of economics. Each lesson focuses on vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading, writing skills, and applying knowledge to real-world scenarios: Unit 1: Saving, Spending... Borrowing and Lending! explores concepts of personal finance and borrowing, including financial management strategies and specialized communication; Unit 2: The Economics of Agriculture examines the role of agriculture in the economy, emphasizing vocabulary and analytical skills; Unit 3: The Economics of Health Care analyzes economic issues in healthcare, including costs, policies, and stakeholder roles; Unit 4: The Economics of Sport discusses the economic impact of sports, including business models and sponsorships; Unit 5: Labour Markets investigates labor market dynamics, from recruitment processes to factors affecting supply and demand; and Unit 6: Strategy, Policy, and Economic Change explores economic strategies, policies, and global economic shifts. Throughout the nine sessions, students will engage in group discussions, case analyses, role-playing, and presentations, complemented by self-study tasks and LMS-based learning. The module includes a Speaking assessment and a review session to consolidate acquired knowledge.
