5. Course Objectives:

The studio aims to train students with basic methods of urban visualization through drawing plans, drawing sections, illustrations and doing fieldwork. The key is for students to understand that a thorough urban analysis holds far greater significance than a mere design. In other words, this is a first step in learning how to use basic and powerful urban visualization to read urban and landscape structures as a foundation for urban exploration.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

Urban Visualization will provide students with basic ways to represent the understanding of urban and landscape structures in relation to social and ecological conditions. The course will introduce some of the powerful types of representation needed to understand the relationship between settlements, topography, landscapes, and climate. It prepares students for the Mapping the City course and larger studios. Simultaneously, during the course, students will also learn about some essential software that will be helpful to create more interactive and affective illustrations for their future careers.
