This course introduces the fundamental concepts of landscape, landscape architecture, and resilience design. It will help students understand landscape as a consequence of settling on natural land. It will explore how humans inhabit, adapt to, or impose themselves on ecological floors. In other words, it will explore how humans settle with and within different types of landscapes (such as water, forests, gardens, parks, etc.). The strengths and weaknesses learned from history will be the foundation for developing resilience design thinking for each type of landscape. This course includes case studies and resources that illustrate multi-benefit systems and multiscale solutions. It will also explain the role of landscape architects within the planning and urban design team in creating more resilient projects.)
