5. Course Objectives:

The course equips students with an integrated foundation in translation and interpreting for business and corporate contexts. It enables them to identify and explain core theoretical underpinnings, ethical principles, and professional standards; to execute a functionally oriented translation workflow that includes text analysis, terminology management, editing, and quality assurance; and to develop competence in consecutive, simultaneous, and sight interpreting at an introductory–intermediate level through systematic memory training, disciplined note-taking, and delivery/ear–voice span control. Ultimately, the course seeks to cultivate professional English communicative competence and informed strategic decision-making, whereby students select and justify strategies that align with communicative goals and legal–ethical requirements, while coordinating effectively in teams and incorporating structured feedback to iteratively enhance the quality of their outputs.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course integrates translation and interpreting for corporate and business contexts. Students analyse texts functionally (genre, purpose), produce translations consistent with style guides and terminological policies, and perform consecutive, simultaneous, and sight interpreting with effective note-taking and delivery control. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, fluency, pragmatic appropriateness, ethics and legal compliance, and collaborative project work with evidence-based feedback cycles.
