This course equips students with essential reading skills for engaging with academic texts. It emphasizes the development of comprehension strategies and the ability to analyze textual features, while fostering critical thinking through academic reading activities. Students will practice strategies such as identifying a text’s genre, audience, purpose, and perspective; recognizing arguments and supporting evidence; and interpreting references and a writer’s stance. In addition, the course places a strong focus on enhancing students’ academic vocabulary, enabling them to use it accurately and flexibly in their reading and related academic work.
