5. Course Objectives:

This course aims to equip students with essential academic reading skills by enabling them to apply effective comprehension strategies to understand and analyze academic texts. Students will learn to identify a text’s genre, audience, purpose, and perspective, as well as recognize arguments, supporting evidence, and the writer’s stance. The course also focuses on developing students’ ability to interpret references and citation formats, helping them navigate academic resources effectively. In addition, students will enhance their critical thinking skills through reflective reading practices that encourage questioning and deeper interpretation of content. A strong emphasis is placed on building and refining academic vocabulary, fostering students’ ability to use it accurately and flexibly in their reading and related academic activities.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course equips students with essential reading skills for engaging with academic texts.
