Specifically, they will learn effective note-taking through methods such as charts/diagrams and keywording, apply summarising and prediction techniques, and further develop presentation skills and critical thinking. In addition, they will enhance their vocabulary knowledge by deriving meaning from context, using dictionaries appropriately, and working with polysemy, synonyms, and word forms. Consolidation of pronunciation—including word stress, unstressed syllables/weak forms, sentence stress, and basic intonation patterns—is also an essential component of the course.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This Intermediate Listening–Speaking course introduces four substantive topics—Business, Behavioral Science, Developmental Psychology, and Natural Science—while providing systematic practice in listening and speaking. Learners will practise efficient note-taking using diagrams and keywords, together with summarising strategies and content prediction. Presentation and critical-thinking abilities will be advanced in tandem. The course also expands vocabulary through contextual inference, principled dictionary use, exploration of multiple meanings and synonyms, and mastery of word forms. Moreover, targeted work on pronunciation—covering word stress, unstressed syllables/weak forms, basic intonation, and sentence stress—plays a central role throughout the learning process.
