5. Course Objectives:

This course is designed to enhance students’ knowledge across a spectrum of essential topics, including Personal Development, Corporate Image, Supply Chain, Managing Conflict, Marketing & Sales, Risk Management, Investment, and Free Trade. It is also crafted to empower students with the skills necessary to excel in various aspects of business communication. Students will delve into the intricacies of crafting business correspondence by focusing on the format, structure, content, and vocabulary required for diverse documents. The course covers the art of writing a compelling personal biography, engaging newsletter articles, effective emails, persuasive business proposals, and insightful business reports. Beyond honing practical writing skills, students will also cultivate critical thinking strategies, such as categorizing, analyzing, and synthesizing information. The course aims to elevate students’ ability to write documents commonly used in professional settings, fostering proficiency and confidence. Additionally, the course spotlights specific language points, including participle clauses, perspectives, expressions with appropriate levels of formality, sounding diplomatic, assertive, or forceful, reason, purpose, and concessive clauses, key expressions for corporate reports, metaphors, useful finance-related expressions, and pairing, adverb, and adjective collocations.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

This course, based on The Business 2.0 Advanced, develops students’ ability to produce clear, professional, and persuasive business writing. Drawing on authentic business contexts from the textbook, students will practice crafting a range of written documents, including biographies, effective emails, proposals, reports, press releases, budget reports, and articles. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, coherence, and appropriate register, with a focus on language features such as participle clauses, persuasive expressions, and finance-related vocabulary. Through guided tasks and case-based activities, students will strengthen their skills in structuring arguments, tailoring messages to different audiences, and integrating critical thinking into written communication. By the end of the course, learners will have enhanced confidence and competence in writing documents commonly used in international business settings.
