6. Brief Description of Course Content:

The course British and American Cultures provides students with a comprehensive and systematic overview of two major English-speaking cultures — the United Kingdom and the United States. It covers key topics such as history, geography, people, political systems, religion, education, social values, and contemporary lifestyles. Building on these foundations, students are guided to analyze, compare, and relate these cultures to Vietnamese culture in order to enhance intercultural communication competence and adaptability in global contexts.

Within the English Language Studies – Business English major curriculum, this course serves as a bridge between language skills courses (such as Business Communication Skills and Intercultural Communication) and specialized application courses (such as International Business Negotiation and Organizational Communication). It plays an essential role in helping students understand how cultural factors influence communication, negotiation, and management in international business environments. Furthermore, it reinforces analytical, presentation, and teamwork skills vital for students’ professional development in a multicultural and globalized workplace.
