5. Course Objectives:

The Public Speaking course equips students with essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills to prepare, organize, and deliver effective speeches in academic and professional contexts. By learning key principles, structures, and techniques of public speaking, students develop the ability to use verbal and nonverbal communication persuasively, gaining confidence, adaptability, and stage presence in public communication. The course also fosters critical and creative thinking, encouraging students to reflect, evaluate, and refine their individual speaking styles toward professional and impactful performance.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

The Public Speaking course provides students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in preparing, organizing, and delivering effective speeches. The course covers key elements of public speaking, including speech structure, audience analysis, rhetorical strategies, language use, voice control, body language, and emotional management.
Through various interactive and experiential learning activities such as individual speeches, group presentations, peer evaluations, and simulated public speaking events (forums, debates, and pitching sessions), students enhance their delivery techniques, critical thinking, and persuasive communication skills.
The course also aims to develop students’ confidence, flexibility, and professional speaking style — essential qualities for academic, business, and leadership contexts. Upon completion, students will be able to design, perform, and critically evaluate speeches that are appropriate to specific purposes, audiences, and contexts.
