5. Course Objectives:

This course is designed to provide students in the Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Management program with a comprehensive overview of solid and hazardous waste management within the context of sustainable development. The course content covers the origin, composition, volume, and characteristics of municipal solid waste, along with effective and sustainable waste collection and treatment systems. In addition, students will gain essential knowledge of hazardous waste management, including definitions, classifications, sources of generation, environmental impacts, and health risks. The course also introduces appropriate methods for the storage, collection, and transportation of hazardous waste in accordance with international standards. Emphasis is placed on the integration of waste management into corporate sustainable development strategies, contributing to environmental protection and public health.

6. Brief Description of Course Content:

The course "Solid and Hazardous Waste Management" provides students with an in-depth understanding of waste management systems to support decision-making and address environmental challenges. Key topics include exploring the sources, composition, quantity, and properties of solid and hazardous waste; systems for storage, collection, classification, and transportation; and treatment technologies such as combustion, gasification, and pyrolysis. Students will also learn to assess health risks, environmental impacts, and apply international standards in the design and operation of waste management systems. Additionally, the course introduces practical management models aimed at promoting circular economy practices and sustainable development.
